Area (4) Spawning walleye run the Napanee River as far as Napanee, and are normally still in for the first week or two of the season. Most boat fishing is done downstream from the Hydroline crossing, where the river narrows. Stay in the main channel and drift-jig the 10- to 15-foot holes at bends. In summer, work cane beds and undercut banks for largemouth bass, especially along the south side. Chinook salmon are no longer stocked here, but moderate numbers continue to enter the river in late September/October. Try an irritator bait like a Tadpolly in the deep holes.
