THOMPSON/BURRISS WIN ANOTHER ONE!! * The final one day tournament of the 2003 tournament season was held on Sunday, August 31st at Centennial Park in Deseronto with 50 teams vying for first place and the $2,000.00 for the win.* The weather was ideal with light winds and partly sunny skies and at the 4:00 p.m. check-in time a number of good weights came to the scales. With an impressive weight of 18.81 lbs., Deseronto’s Dean Thompson and Mike Burriss of Newburgh took the title for their second win of the 2003 season and their third top three finish of the year. Along with the $2000.00 in cash, these anglers also took home two waterproof coats compliments of Mark’s Work Warehouse, a $50.00 gift certificate from Kelseys/Montanna’s and two Quinte Fishing Series 2003 Tournament Champion hats.* Coming in a close second with 18.57 lbs. were the Lawrence brothers, Tom and Steve and they received $1,350.00 for this good bag of bass. Rounding out the top three finishers were last years Team of the Year, Terry Langstaff from Belleville and Frankford’s Brian Hadley with 17.93 lbs. $950.00 went home with these two anglers as well as the H2Optix Big Fish Award for big fish of the day. This was their second "Big Fish" win in as many tournaments and earned them $1,000.00 cash as well as two pairs of H2Optix sunglasses and Big Fish trophy. * Andy and Darcy Asselstine, 2001 Team of the Year winners took the fourth place position with 17.22 lbs. pocketing $700.00 and in fifth place with 16.74 lbs. and earning $500.00 were Chris Sherman and Dave Henderson. Jeff Kerr and Bill Brydson finished in sixth with 16.60 lbs., in seventh was Rob Coolahan and Rob Mitchell with 16.50 lbs. and 16.31 lbs. gave Paul Lounsberry and Brian McLean the final eight place payback. * With another win, Dean Thompson has really put the pressure on the rest of the field in the race for the "Angler/Team of the Year". With 8 points in four (4) tournaments, Thompson leads the way with the Asselstine’s in second with 14 pts. followed by HadleyLangstaff with 16 pts .The final tournament , the Quinte Classic on Sept. 20th and 21st must count towards this race so it still leaves a number of teams/anglers with a real shot at this title. * The final tournament of this 2003 season will be held in Belleville on Sept. 20th and 21st and will wrap up another very successful season.
