Results from Quinte Fishing Series - July 20th, 2003

RECORD NUMBER OF TEAMS FISH TRENTON TOURNAMENT

* The third tournament of the Quinte Fishing Series and second bass tournament of the season was held in Trenton on Sunday, July 20th with a record 59 teams participating. After completing the mandatory boat check, two flights of boats left at 7:00 and 7:15a.m. hoping to catch a five(5) fish limit of large or smallmouth bass before returning for the 4:00 and 4:15 p.m. weigh-in time.

* A number of teams made a bid for the lead but when all teams had weighed-in, Deseronto’s Dean Thompson and Mike Burriss from Newburgh claimed the first place title and with that $2,450.00, two waterproof coats compliments of Mark’s Work Warehouse, a $50.00 gift certificate from Kelsey’s/Montanna’s and two Quinte Fishing Series 2003 Tournament Champion hats.

*17.40 lbs. gave the husband and wife team of Chris and Mary Ann Frazee of Belleville the second place position and $1,700.00 while $1,100.00 went to Deseronto’s Troy Maracle and Randy Cronkwright of Napanee with 16.74 lbs. for third place.

* Andy and Darcy Asselstine with 16.60 lbs. took home $800.00 for the fourth spot and in fifth were Stirling’s Art McConnell and Blair Smith and they earned $550.00. Last tournament winners, Grant Elliott and Karl Neumayer finished in sixth while Mike and Mary Nabulsi claimed seventh and the final prize winners were Foxboro’s Wilf and Jason Brasser with 15.06 lbs.

*The H2Optix Big Fish Award was a highly contested contest with a number of teams weighing-in bass in the 4.50-4.80 lb. range. David Reid and partner Wayne Barnes with a great largemouth of 4.82 lbs. took this title and with it $1,200.00 in cash as well as two H2Optix quality sunglasses and Big Fish trophy.
