RESULTS FROM QUINTE FISHING SERIES
FALL COMBO - SEPTEMBER 30-OCTOBER 1, 2000
The Fall Combo, the last tournament of the season for the
Quinte Fishing Series and only two (2) day tournament
of the "series", got underway from the
George Street ramps at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 30th.
A clear morning with relatively calm waters welcomed the
anglers day one as 23 boats/teams left at the 7:00 a.m.
starting time. Teams were hoping to
catch a five (5) fish limit of bass and/or walleye or any
combination of the
two species.
The 4:00 p.m. check-in time saw a number of teams weighing in
some great weights but very few walleyes were
included in these limits. With 21.81 lbs.
, including big bass of the day, a 4.52 lb. largemouth, Chris Sherman and
Dave Henderson took the day one lead. In second place with 18.88 lbs. were
Andy and Darcy Asselstine with a
nice walleye of 8.91 lbs. included in that weight, and rounding out the top
three after day one were Jeff Toppings
and
Larry Pringle with 18.65 lbs.
Leaving at 7:00 a.m. day two, the teams left with calm winds
and water but with the temperature a few degrees
warmer they also experienced
areas of early morning fog.
At the 3:00 p.m. weigh-in time, by weighing in a nice walleye
of over 8.00 lbs., the defending tournament champions
Chris Sherman from Corbyville and Belleville's Dave
Henderson took the title and the $1,800.00 pay cheque. With
their 4.52 lb. largemouth they weighed in on day one, they also took
Big Fish - Bass title for the weekend and that
netted them an additional $250.00 plus trophy compliments of Waterbouys Bar and
Grill, Belleville.
They also received two fleece jackets compliments of Mark's
Work Wearhouse and from Kelsey's, Belleville-
Trenton, a $50.00 gift certificate.
Second place went to Picton's Jeff Toppings and partner Larry
Pringle of Napanee with a total weight of 33.05 lbs.
earning them $900.00 and third
place for the weekend went to Brian Hadley from Frankford and

them $600.00.
In fourth place with 29.35 lbs. over two days were Rick

one fish on Sunday, Tom and Joe Gustar made it count by taking
the Big Fish - Walleye title with a 9.40 lb. walleye
and winning $250.00 plus trophy compliments
of the Quinte Fishing Series.
This year's "Angler/Team of the Year" race was very
close and going into the last tournament, five (5) teams had a
legitimate shot at this title.
Day one saw two of the teams vying for this title slip down
the leader board, and by winning the Combo tournament,
Chris Sherman and Dave Henderson wrapped up their
second consecutive Team of the Year championship, and
with that a prize package of a 15' Yukon Princecraft boat, 15
H.P. Mercury outboard and galvanized trailer.
