Area (1)

The Trent River draws Quinte's largest walleye spawning run.   It's normally still loaded with fish on opening day, and they stay in or near the river for two to three weeks.  Drift-jig or troll crankbaits, from the mouth up to Lock & Dam No. 1.   Expect plenty of action and plety of company.  Several 10- to 12-foot rock piles downstream from the Highway 2 bridge can be awesome.

In November, try casting crankbaits from the rocks at Centennial Park after dark for a shot at a real hog walleye.

Nice, late-fall runs of lake whitefish have entered the Trent in recent years.   Fish up to 6 pounds can be caught on small jigs or spinners.
